Posts: 40 (07/07/08 16:45:05) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : puppet, master, totems, jennings I realize Puppet Masters 4 and 5 aren't the most appreciated installments of the franchise, in fact of the original 5 the latter 2 are the least enjoyed. Some people don't like the fact that the puppets became the the good guys. I'm personally not fond of the fact that they could have easily been combined into one film, how three random demons weren't much of a threat and one bigger one was just not enough. The puppets didn't do enough in part 5 and the totems didn't kill enough in part 4. Personally I think if we want an epic sequel someone who has the box set and the right software could edit the films together into one part, introduce Jennings earlier, like just after Baker and Piper get killed, kill Cameron quick and have most of the action occur in one night. Of course there'd be no way to get it distributed but for personal satifaction and a better PM sequel I'd be interested to hear about it from someone who has the resources. The fandom's already been able to improve the merchandise, what about the films themseelves? The partial summary of the epic yet unproduced script for the marvelous duel of Blade vs. Chucky is as follows!: you are right toyland Chairman blade it and chucky serious one battalla of you lead although chucky is not head laminates it is it of puppets I I have the name of six to shooter 03 so that they do not tenian of blade although it blade it is my favorite marionette follows to him to jester

Much better than ones after them... Yeah, the deaths aren't really 'good', but violence/gore has never been Puppet Master strong point.

Most were quite unsatisying, there were a few mediocre ones like Jennings (Would have bordered on good if they had had a dummy to burn instead of just having the corpse untouched) and the Sutekh-Totem. The only real good one was the first Totem, held back and drilled, and even that wasn't all that spectacular. @MAD: I agree, I do like 4 and 5 to an extent but they could have been up to par with the first 3 if they were edited together before release. I do remember Curse being okay though, don't remember taking too much notice of the stock footage, as a matter of fact I think it was just a bit better than parts 4 and 5 seperately. I disagree with the violence/gore thing though. Puppet master films aren't the most in-your-face splatter films but what makes them infinitely cooler than many other killer doll flicks is the fact that they have creative weapons and stuff. The fourth and fifth didn't exploit that enough! I've since changed my mind about that, but I still consider the first 5 films to be the original Puppet Master saga. I loved the fact that the puppets were on our side, and I always thought their struggle with Sutekh was way cool. It gets a lot of criticism because I'm sure most fans would rather see the puppets mangle and mutilate innocent victims than see them face off against a cosmic evil, but that's always been the coolest aspect of 4 & 5. Plus, I still think that the effects in those two parts were the best in the series and after part five was when they took a steep drop. I don't mind the fact that they're two separate movies at all, except that the first 20 minutes of The Final Chapter are recap material. That's still better than all the combined stock footage they tried to slip into Curse instead of actually filming the puppets doing, what? Sitting in the corner? They really needed to use footage of Leech Woman from the 40s in order to show her sitting down? But I digress. I rather liked the idea of the two part epic. My only beef with it is that the Sutekh costume could have been simpler but cooler, and his voice is much cooler in the trailer. That and the possibility that the Watcher Totems could have been slightly varied instead of all being the same. Like the totems that are in the movie, Totem. Am I the only one who thinks that is a spin-off? If you look at them, they look just like the totems from PM4, but with different armor and varying features, like wings. I'd love to see another movie where Sutekh has different classes and types of Totems that he commands. "The weed of crime bears bitter fruit, you old hag... God, where have I heard that before?"

They killed Nazis in part III but they're still considered "bad guys" there because they "killed humans" . No, I don't think people really have a problem with them being good guys as long as they slash humans up. Maybe there should have been cultists in 4&5 or maybe Jennings' assistants could have been more menacing? 4 and 5 had the best effects indeed, but I think there should have been more substance to the style there, especially when it came to the end. If I remember correctly, aside from Decapitron, Six-Shooter was the only one to hurt Sutekh. There could have been an all-out puppet melee there! hell, up until Sutek tried to turn tail Blade seemed poised to really slice him up, but he didn't! Yeah, and the Sutekh conflict needs to continue, that is why I am not wanting more prequels... I agree the deaths were pretty bad but it was made up for with the effects and the change of sides. Substance was an issue but honestly I think 4 and 5 were meant for introducing and ending things in the series then for just the deaths of people and totems. 4 introduced Decapitron and 5 gave us an end to the toulon saga. It is time for you to die, so you may live forever
